Preconstruction Intern

RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervised practice at the work site or in the office in daily operations of construction including:

  • Reviewing and analyzing historical data relative to the project, incorporating various productions and costs appropriate in preparation of a bid
  • Completing a plan and specification review for an assigned project, assessing the risk areas and bringing them to the attention of the Senior Estimator
  • Completing material and quantity takeoffs according to bid documents
  • May perform other duties as necessary or required.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in construction management, engineering or related field
  • Industry experience with a General Contractor or in the construction field with the ability to understand project owner specifications, engineering drawings, project scheduling, and cost controls preferred
  • Strong technology skills; Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Adobe/Bluebeam
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to recognize discrepancies
  • Dependable, results-focused and ethical
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Involvement in community, student association &/or extracurricular activities preferred
  • Knowledge of construction safety and current federal & OSHA requirements is preferred
  • The ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment
  • Successful completion of post-offer background check & drug screens
  • Uses safety equipment as prescribed by company to ensure safety on jobsite
  • As a safety sensitive position, complete adherence to alcohol and drug use policies set by company
  • In-person, predictable attendance at assigned location

The salary range for this position is $ 22.00 /hr.
