Preconstruction Intern

Supervised practice at the work site or in the office in daily operations of construction including:
- Reviewing and analyzing historical data relative to the project, incorporating various productions and costs appropriate in preparation of a bid
- Completing a plan and specification review for an assigned project, assessing the risk areas and bringing them to the attention of the Senior Estimator
- Completing material and quantity takeoffs according to bid documents
- May perform other duties as necessary or required.
- Pursuing an undergraduate degree in construction management, engineering or related field
- Industry experience with a General Contractor or in the construction field with the ability to understand project owner specifications, engineering drawings, project scheduling, and cost controls preferred
- Strong technology skills; Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Adobe/Bluebeam
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational, planning and time management skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to recognize discrepancies
- Dependable, results-focused and ethical
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Involvement in community, student association &/or extracurricular activities preferred
- Knowledge of construction safety and current federal & OSHA requirements is preferred
- The ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment
- Successful completion of post-offer background check & drug screens
- Uses safety equipment as prescribed by company to ensure safety on jobsite
- As a safety sensitive position, complete adherence to alcohol and drug use policies set by company
- In-person, predictable attendance at assigned location
- Successful completion of post-offer background & drug screens
The salary range for this position is $ 22.00 /hr.
