Description

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is an expert clinician who may practice in a specialty area with expertise in teaching, mentoring, consulting, research, management and systems improvement. The clinical nurse specialist influences outcomes by providing expert consultation to all care providers and by implementing improvements in health care delivery systems.

For 0.5 to 1.0 FTE (20 hours - 40 hours per week) $15,000 Hiring Bonus for eligible candidates who meet all conditions for payment - this is in addition to the fantastic benefits and compensation package offered by Providence.

Who we are : The Clinical Education and Practice team is composed of clinical educators, clinical nurse specialists, and administrative and program support professionals that support the professional development and practice needs of nurses and nursing support personnel. The team is largely composed of nurses trained at the graduate (Master’s or Doctoral degree) level, and we cover a variety of clinical specialties, including acute and critical care, behavioral health, emergency services, perinatal, and perioperative and procedural services.

What we are known for : Our team of clinical educators deliver quality educational programming and develop practice resources to support nursing caregivers of all experience levels. Our Transition Into Practice (TIPs) program is accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), and the program supports nursing residents, or new nursing graduates, as they transition into their first professional nursing career. We also offer fellowship programs for nurses seeking to transition into a different clinical specialty. The clinical nurse specialists on the team support critical clinical and quality improvement work across the various clinical specialties to ensure positive clinical outcomes for our patients.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree from a clinical nurse specialist program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC) or

  • Ph.D. from a clinical nurse specialist program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or

  • Currently enrolled in a Master's, DNP, or Ph.D. clinical nurse specialist program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC) or

  • Equivalent coursework and experience will be considered (Example: Masters in Nursing or Doctoral degree in Nursing that did not major in the CNS role, such as those that are in Nursing Administration or Nursing Education)

  • Upon hire: Washington Registered Nurse License

  • Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association

  • 3 years registered nursing experience in area of specialty

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Upon hire: Current certification as a CNS

  • Upon hire: Current certification in area of specialty

  • 2 years clinical leadership responsibility
