System Administrator Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) Suffolk, VA Join our Talent Network TheSystem Administrator Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) will administer physical and virtual Linux servers running Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) in support of Defensive Cyber Operations for the US Navy at Navy Cyber Defense Operations Command in Suffolk VA. Duties and Responsibilities: • Administers server-based systems, security devices, distributed applications, network storage, and performs systems monitoring. • Consults on network, application, and customer service issues to support computer systems’ security and availability. • Provide Subject Matter Expert level support for Linux system administration on RHEL and SLES. • Maintain systems patches. • Maintain systems security posture. • Implement Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs). • Review ACAS/Tenable security scans and remediate vulnerabilities as required. • Improve system administration productivity by authoring/updating relevant shell scripts. • Provide timely reports on projects status and other systems administration work, as required. • Liaise with government and contractor organizations to ensure information is current and accurate. • Maintain a neat, secure, and orderly facility. • Complete annual company and customer training requirements according to established policies and procedures, as required. • Record labor hours daily in an online corporate system. • Travel up to 10% as required. • Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.) • 7 - 10 years of experience as Linux System Administrator on systems running Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) in an enterprise level environment. • 3 years’ experience working with RMF based Information Security Systems Engineer (ISSE) documentation. • Familiar with VMware vSphere. • Proficient in the application of Secure Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) on Linux-based systems. • ACAS/Tenable security suite experience. • Proficiency in shell scripting. • Familiar with enterprise backup software and administration. • Familiar with enterprise storage administration and concept. • Current CompTIA Network+ as well as Security+, CompTIA Linux + Preferred. • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) Level 3 Desired • Must be a U.S. Citizen. • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license. • General Service (GENSER)/Secret clearance required to start. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Ability to work in team setting, as well as independently. • Self-starter: identify issues and create action plan for resolution. • Demonstrated initiative, flexibility and ability to concurrently manage multiple deadline-driven tasks and projects. • Excellent communication skills. • Ability to travel up to 10% as requested.
