Job Overview: The Remote Tax Senior Staff Accountant is a critical role within our client's organization, providing high-level tax planning, review, and audit services to local individuals and businesses. This position is essential in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of tax filings, mentoring junior staff, and building strong relationships with clients. The Senior Staff Accountant will also play a key role in client interactions, training, and the overall management of tax-related projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review intermediate-level tax returns, including C-Corporation, Partnership, S-Corporation, Personal, Non-Profit, and Trust tax returns.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of various tax documents such as Form 1099's, Sales tax returns, Business Property Statements, and Business Licenses.
  • Manage and maintain control lists and deadlines to ensure timely tax filing and reporting.
  • Provide tax planning services for both corporate and personal clients.
  • Assist in tax audits and supervise compilation, review, and audit engagements.
  • Participate in mentoring programs and facilitate in-house training and meetings.
  • Assist with client billing by analyzing work-in-progress (WIP) and preparing invoices.
  • Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective clients, participating in outreach and recruiting events.
  • Conduct intermediate individualized tax research and contribute to the development of in-house training courses.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor of Accountancy required. CPA or EA license preferred, but may be substituted with equivalent experience and continued education.
  • Experience: Proven experience in tax planning, review, and audit within a public accounting environment.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in tax and accounting-related software, including CFS, AME, CSA, QuickBooks, T-value, Adobe Acrobat, Prosystems Engagement, Checkpoint Tools, and Axcess Tax.
    • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines, especially during tax season.
    • Ability to mentor and train junior staff effectively.

  • Work Environment: This is a fully remote position based in California, requiring a high level of self-discipline and time management skills.
