Summary: Supports the North American Purchasing organization of Voith US Inc. team related to strategic sourcing, cost reduction, supply base analysis and process efficiency improvement projects. Works with Category Management and Purchasing teams on a diverse, but focused set of projects by applying your analytical, problem solving, communication and teamwork skills. This is a great opportunity for the candidate who is seeking a career in Supply Chain Management to gain practical experience in Purchasing operations as well to gain insights into strategic sourcing and project management.

Responsibilities:

Operational Purchasing support:

  • Expeditor roles for tail spend POs and/or conversion of requisitions to POs

  • Support new vendor process

  • Inspect and clear issues where invoices do not match POs

  • Close off old POs


Support the preparation of cost reduction projects (data collection / normalization / analysis, RFQ / eRFQ preparation, and bid analysis) and tactical projects.

  • Support purchasing process improvement projects to improve operational efficiency (data collection, analysis, problem solving).

  • Prepare and maintain related charts, adhoc analysis reports, etc. in support of colleagues.


Requirements:

  • Organized and has skills to multi-task several projects with several team members.

  • Self-starter, high initiative, persistent and curious.

  • Possesses strong initiative to understand a problem and work independently to solve it.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications and strong with excel.

  • Open to work flexible hours.

  • Ability to work / collaborate remotely. Attend limited, on-site project meetings (perhaps 1x month).


  • Previous work experience in a supply chain or operations environment preferred.

  • Database skills is a plus.

  • ERP experience is a plus.

  • Language: English, basic French Language a plus but not mandatory


  • Currently enrolled in a four year degree program and in good standing at an accredited college or university and pursuing a supply chain / business or engineering degree.

  • Candidate should in pursuit of a BA, BS or MBA in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain Finance

  • Junior or Senior level required.



  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
