IT Support Specialist

This position assists staff with technical support of desktop computers, applications, and related technology. Support includes specification, installation, and testing of computer systems and peripherals within established standards and guidelines. Activities require interaction with applications software and operating systems to diagnose and resolve unique, non-recurring problems. This position assists office staff as well as warehousing operations and all IT equipment/processes related to both environments. There is a strong emphasis in troubleshooting Windows OS, Desktop Applications, wireless networks, RF equipment, thermal printers, in addition to understanding how these resources affect daily business needs. Responsibilities require independent analyses, communication, and problem solving. Work is performed with little supervision and requires initiative, judgment, and self-motivation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Additional responsibilities may be assigned.
- Installing and configuring computer systems
- Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks
- Talking coworkers/clients through a series of actions, either face to face or over the telephone
- Trouble shooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware/software faults.
- Finding solutions to problems, be it through creating a desktop shortcut or fixing a major fault on the operating system
- Create/Update documentation on systems, processes, and solutions as needed.
- Providing support, including procedural, documentation
- Following diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system.
- Running network applications to support systems and users.
- Supporting new applications
- Setting up new users; trains and orients coworkers on use of hardware and software
- Responding within agreed time limits to help calls.
- Working continuously on a task until completion as well as prioritizing and managing several
open cases at one time - Working with existing PowerShell scripts and has the ability to learn PowerShell 2
MISCELLANEOUS DUTIES
Special Projects Assist in companywide activities associated with the department.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree or an Information Technology related major. 2+ years' experience supporting a warehouse environment. Prefer experience with Zebra (or other label printers), RF and wireless networks. Must have good oral and written communication skills. Excellent customer service skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to physically count, add, subtract, multiply and divide.
REASONING ABILILTY
Ability to define problems establishes facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
