OVERVIEW

The Survey Technician assists in the performance of boundary, topographic, and construction surveys and meanwhile learns the methods, standards, and procedures for the work. Responsibilities include completing a variety of professional assignments to facilitate the completion of roads, bridges, building sites, recreational areas, retracement of surveys and establishment of property corners. The Survey Technician will gain a broad range of experience and education in field/or office surveying equipment, software, and technology. This position predominantly will focus on office based work to support the field and final deliverable aspects of projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists with office survey duties, including data entry, filing, copying, recordkeeping and file maintenance for survey records.
  • Uses Survey Carlson andCADDsoftware packages for final mapping.
  • Deed and map research as necessary
  • Field data review, insertion, and reduction, for deliverables
  • Assist in Technical Report writing
  • Assists survey crews with chaining and measuring, setting forward stationing, data collection, and photographs of the survey as necessary.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum of two years of experience
  • High School Diploma, Associates Degree (AS/BS in Geomatics/Survey, Cartography, Civil Engineering, or other relevant discipline preferred); strong in Mathematics
  • Knowledge of Land Survey, Record Plan research and use of AutoCAD, Civil 3D and MicroStation software
  • Knowledge of Land Surveying practices in 5 boroughs of NYC
  • Excellent attention to detail and technical written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to thrive in a team-focused environment and engage in creative, critical thought; takes initiative and can function at a high level on multi-disciplinary teams
