Overview

Summary/Objective 

The Fraud Specialist within the Fraud Investigation Unit is responsible for intaking suspected fraud cases and applying root cause analysis and other fact-finding methods to investigate potentially fraudulent activity through evaluation of accounts and dealership activity. The Fraud Specialist will be responsible for presenting findings and partnering with leadership across Risk, Legal, Compliance and Operations departments to create action plans.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Work closely with Fraud Analysts and other members of the Fraud Investigation Unit to review and prioritize potential fraud cases for further investigation.
  • Apply investigative techniques to perform deep dive investigations into unusual behavior within accounts, thoroughly document process and findings, and present findings for necessary actions to mitigate/prevent loss (lien loss, identity fraud, etc.).
  • Develop an understanding of fraudulent documentation to be able to spot or identify fraudulent activity and stay current on new fraud techniques and ways to assess and mitigate.
  • Assist in building cases to substantiate allegations of fraudulent activity by obtaining supporting documents and other evidence to create a detailed written Case Summary Report.
  • Utilize defined metrics to create and update tracking and reporting.
  • Present Case Summaries and findings to internal stakeholder groups.  
  • Perform other specialty investigations as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justices, Accounting, Finance, or another related field is preferred, but not required. 
  • Basic accounting/data analysis and skip tracing skills preferred. 
  • Experience utilizing TLO, IDICore, CarFaxor an equivalent skip tracing program is preferred, but not required.
  • Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills required.  
  • Demonstrated sound business judgment in applying proper policies, procedures, and guidelines while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point).
  • Self-starter possessing the ability to work independently while positively contributing to a team culture.
  • Strong time management skills are essential for this role to effectively prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain productivity in a dynamic work environment. The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to efficiently allocate time, handle multiple responsibilities concurrently, and adapt to shifting priorities while ensuring high-quality outcomes.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m., 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Hours may vary or exceed 40 in any given week depending on the needs of the business.

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.
