GS2 Sub Assembly Technician Level III for C Shift


As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will manufacture, assemble, and test hardware for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of transforming the way rockets are made and operated. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention toward safe and repeatable spaceflight.

GS2 Final Assembly / Sub Assembly Technician Level III for A Shift

Responsibilities

  • Set up new production work areas, including layouts, tooling, and equipment setup, etc.
  • Assist with the transition from development to production, including the first articles.
  • Manufacture, assemble, and test mechanical, fluid, composites, and electrical flight hardware assemblies according to written procedures and engineering models, drawings, specifications, and written procedures.
  • Perform second-party verifications and hardware inspections of engineering models, drawings, specifications, and written procedures.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct malfunctions by modification, rework, repair, and/or maintenance. Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for recurrence control.
  • Operate various materials handling equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, aerial lifts, flight vehicle and subassembly transportation equipment, truck-trailer combinations, and other ground support equipment as required.
  • Setup and operate a wide range of precision calibrated tools including but limited to, torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, laser trackers, height gauges, and optical measuring instruments.
  • Perform drill operations, tight tolerance holes, rivet structures, and assemble small components.
  • Install tubing and harness routing.
  • Help mentor and train less experienced technicians.
  • Support vehicle checkouts such as fluid lines leak checks and full vehicle power-on system checks
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for area safety and efficiency.
  • Perform routine maintenance functions such as daily clean-up of work areas to support 5S, FOD, and ESD
  • Other duties as assigned or otherwise beneficial to fulfilling the mission and vision.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 7 years of direct experience in aerospace manufacturing, integration, or another relevant field
  • Ability to work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with rapidly changing roles and responsibilities.
  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures.
  • Basic computer skills such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to climb ladders/stairs and work in small, restricted areas.
  • Perform repetitive work including lifting of heavy items, >50lbs.
  • Work off-shift, extended hours overtime, and weekends if/when necessary.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

  • Industry certification, trade school training, and/or degree in a related field
  • Demonstrated success as a "hands-on" technical leader.
