The position is broad in scope and may include methods development, analysis, software development, support for validation testing activities, and software verification and validation. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in engineering analysis principles, including fundamental solid mechanics and finite element methods. They should also be competent in Python and have a strong understanding of object-oriented programming. Preference will be given to local candidates who are able to be on site several days a week. Responsibilities Develop analysis methods for predicting mechanical behavior of sodium fast reactor core system and components and document in methodology reports Conduct mechanical analysis of reactor core and core assembly behavior using finite element methods and write formal calculation reports Develop software for automating analysis methods and generating finite element models Write software tests, documentation, and support software quality assurance activities Support planning and design of testing campaigns for validation of analysis methods Conduct analysis for benchmarking test data and validating analysis methods Key Qualifications and Skills B.S. or Masters in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent 0-3 years professional mechanical analysis experience using hand calculations and finite element methods Strong understanding of solid mechanics and finite element methods Strong coding skills, with a preference for object-oriented programming using Python.
