Career & Academic Advising - International Student Assistant (Earn & Learn - FA24)

An International Student Assistant contributes to student learning, growth, and enrichment of diversity here on campus which emphasis on the Assistant acting as an international mentor/leader and gain experience working in a multi-faceted position. The office of International Student services provides not only immigration support/guidance but conducts surveys to collect data for programming on campus, highlight needs of the population, assisting with International Admissions events, social media communications, planning and participating in new International student orientation, post graduation OPT/career advice and general life in America queries.
SHIFTS
- Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, some weekends for campus events.
- Assist with event planning, marketing, international programming, and event planning
- Develop and expand network of international contacts of students
- Contribute ideas to grow social/academic events
- Work with students to navigate the self-service student planning and registration process.
- Updating/improving student portal/website/social media
- Assist in planning of three orientation/new student welcome days and various workshops/information sessions with International Admissions
- Assist with networking with local colleges international consortium/events
- Assist with planning student facing initiatives including English conversation meetups/coffee hours, International student week (November)
- Assist with student Q&A virtually using Microsoft Teams and in person
- Participates in data collection, reporting of data to be used to improve the ISS department and overall college experience
- Maintain ongoing communications with the Manager of International Student Services
- Any and all other duties as assigned
- None
- Emotional maturity and stability/confidentiality
- Ability to take initiative and voice ideas
- Ability to take supervision and correction constructively
- Strong computer experience especially social media, and MS Office Suites
- Knowledge of food, food service and hospitality industry
- Ability to maintain professionalism and adhering to standards of operational excellence, safety, efficiency and educational goals set by the CIA.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with guests, students, and faculty/staff.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to be adaptable, dependable and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills.
Successful applicant must be able to perform all related functions of the assignment which may include working nights and weekends and ability to work in person or virtually using Microsoft Teams.
