Associate Director, Office for Ministry with Youth
The Associate Director for Ministry with Youth is a faith-filled missionary disciple who assists the Director of the Office for Ministry with Youth. The Associate Director supports and collaborates with the Director in creating and implementing a comprehensive plan to equip and support parishes and parish leadership to animate young people (post-Confirmation and high school age) as missionary disciples of Jesus Christ.
Primary responsibilities:
- Overseeing and managing our youth focused experiences such as the Philadelphia Catholic Youth Conference (PCYC), pilgrimage to the National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) Indianapolis and be a liaison for NCYC Long Beach, Arise Youth Evenings of Adoration, Youth Co-leadership Protagonism Initiative (YCOPI), the ordering and distribution of the NFCYM and Archdiocesan awards for Youth Ministry.
- Implementing programs that directly engage and form youth as protagonists of evangelization and committed co-responsible leaders in ministry and the world.
- Advocate for the priority and protagonism of youth as evangelists.
- Assisting to create a sustainable Archdiocesan-wide retreat program.
- Establishing partnerships with Archdiocesan offices and Catholic organizations and institutions to foster strategies for the incorporation of youth in their work.
- Implementing and evaluating youth focused experiences and initiatives to ensure their effectiveness and relevance.
- Developing and managing the office email newsletter, website events, and social media.
- Completing routine and miscellaneous administrative tasks.
Support the Director in:
- developing strategies to achieve the office's vision and goals.
- making creative and strategic decisions that impact the office's effectiveness and structure.
- implementing overall standards of evaluating individual initiatives as well as overall office engagement and work.
- supporting the pastoral care, spiritual wellbeing, and professional development of those who minister with young Catholics.
- forming and supporting parishes (through pastors, pastoral staffs, and parish leadership) with initiatives, resources, mentoring, and consultation for their understanding and development efforts in effective outreach, engagement, and accompaniment of their young Catholics.
- implementing archdiocesan programs, trainings and initiatives which equip and inspire parish staff and leadership to animate the faith lives of young Catholics including those with ethnically diverse youth and youth with disabilities.
- Facilitating the Archdiocesan Council for Ministry with Youth as well as Office-sponsored listening and dialogue sessions.
The Associate Director for Ministry with Youth is a full-time position. The Associate Director is an active member of the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM) and Episcopal Regional III. This position requires some night and weekend responsibilities with occasional overnight travel. Salary is commensurate with experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate for this position is a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with:
- a degree in theology, or comparable discipline; Masters preferred.
- experience in administration on parish, collegiate or diocesan level.
- minimum of three-year experience in working with youth.
- a multi-competent mindset and understanding for ministry with diverse ethnic groups.
- skills in training and supporting local leadership as they build up their ministerial outreach.
- a proven track record for the planning and managing of special events from conceptualization to production.
- a valid driver's license.

Physical requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tool or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. Frequent prolonged use of a computer, driving moderate distances, some lifting and carrying of materials weighing up to 30lbs, generally in connection with presentations and group meetings.
