The Quality Inspector performs quality assurance procedures and is responsible for providing technical assistance and support to the Quality and Assembly Departments to increase efficiency and throughout the production areas.
JOB FUNCTIONS

Include the following, but other duties may be assigned.

  • Inputs, updates, and maintains quality assurance data in the QA databases.
  • Analyzes, evaluates, and presents information concerning factors such as manufacturing issues and the design of products for consideration by other company employees.
  • Suggests and debates alternative methods and procedures in solving problems and meeting changing market opportunities.
  • Reviews technical problems and procedures of departments and recommends solutions to problems or changes in procedures.
  • Reviews problems with parts/equipment purchased for use in the units built by BCI.
  • Cooperates with personnel who use products purchased by BCI to resolve issues of Nonconformance of items used in the assembly of the product.
  • Contacts vendors to report deficiencies and arrange for the return of the failed item for rework or replacement using the vendors RMA/Warranty system.
  • Inspection of both products received and shipped to meet BCI Quality requirements.
  • Program HMIs and PLCs based on required compressor unit specifications.
  • Power up units and, if necessary, troubleshoot and correct any faults to ensure units are functioning properly.
  • Use EPlan to create and update schematics with information and components required for the job order they're assigned to.
  • Audit Bill of Material to ensure all issued parts are with the job and of the required quantity. If not, network with warehouse, engineering, and production coordinators to have the required parts delivered.
  • Use M2M to research job order information.
  • Properly maintain job paperwork, including job orders, drawings, Bill of Material changes, etc.
  • Use Vault to access assembly and schematic drawings.
  • Analyze assembly and schematic drawings to determine any need for revisions and refer to the engineering department.
  • Understand when and how to utilize the BOMAF and MPL processes.
  • Wire motor assemblies.
  • Measure, drill, cut, and wire electrical assemblies.
  • Assemble harnesses and switches as needed for job orders.
  • Responsible for the retention and maintenance of UL records.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School or technical school diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of six (6) months to one year of relevant experience
  • Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Experience in reading engineering and electrical schematics.
  • Ability to interpret wiring/tubing/structural drawings/specifications.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook and Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to multi-task and prioritize demands.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Possess an understanding of electrical wiring and harnessing.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and schematics for placement of parts.
  • Proficient in safely operating overhead/jib crane.
  • Able to identify and safely operate standard hand, power and air tools.
  • Possess high quality standards.
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a constantly changing environment.


VALUED BUT NOT REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics or another related field.
  • Experience in LEAN concepts.
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems experience a plus.
  • Autodesk Inventor experience preferred.
  • Experience with fabrication equipment and machinery.
  • Familiarity with AWS (American welding society) standards and welding practices.
  • Experience/ with metal paint applications and the associated core steps.
