Cyber Security Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Summary/objective:

Seeking a well-qualified Cyber Security Subject Matter Expert who is well versed in NAVY Risk Management Framework and ISSE functions to conduct risk assessments and report findings including recommended solutions. You will be responsible for the creation of POA&Ms to support remediation activities. This position will require you to assist in design, implementation, maintenance, and documentation of security controls. Involvement in creation and review of policies and procedures, support of ongoing third-party audits and demonstrate technical configuration with control implementation. Assist in evaluation of hardware and software systems that provide security functions. Prepare and collect usable security metrics to demonstrate security controls are effective and appropriately configured. This individual is responsible for the engineering, planning and execution of critical security capabilities. Responsibilities will include oversight of all RMF work packages, inclusive of the POA&M’s, involvement in SCAN/STIG events and overseeing each project by tracking key milestones, dependencies, attending meetings, and providing the Cyber Security expertise and guidance to teammates.

Essential functions:

  • Perform risk assessments and assist and provide all documentation for ATO requirements.
  • Conduct threat and vulnerability analysis studies and recommend enhancements to the system security.
  • Develop and review IA documentation.
  • Senior level customer engagement.
Required education and experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical engineering, Information Security or Cybersecurity.
  • Certified Information System Security Professional (minimum certification CompTIA Security+).
  • 8-10 plus years DoD experience
  • Experience implementing security control frameworks (e.g., NIST SP 800-171, NIST SP 800-53, ISO 27001).
  • Willingness to achieve NQV – Navy Qualified Validator status.
Preferred education and experience:
  • Master’s in computer science, Computer Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 10 plus years Navy DoD experience.
  • Systems Administrator background and knowledge.
  • NQV – Navy Qualified Validator.
