Lead Graphic Designer

Reports To: Marketing Director 

FLSA Status: Exempt, Full Time

Summary:  

The Lead Graphic Designer is responsible for coordinating the creation and management of digital assets across a range of communication materials for print, signage, retail packaging and multimedia projects across all portfolio brands to engage consumers and customers alike. 

The Designer will need to make sure all specified criteria are met along with consistency, quality and adherence to brand guidelines.  Under the supervision of the Marketing Director, the Lead Graphic Designer will be the primary content creator and frontline of all incoming design requests.  

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure that layout and design are aligned with the brand following best practices. 
  • Creates and executes design solutions and collateral used for marketing, advertising, sales, and other forms of communication. 
  • Design and create packaging artwork aligned to brand standards and to marketing objectives. 
  • Have working familiarity with a wide range of mediums including Photography, Product Packaging, Signage, Web Design, Video Production, Prototyping, and 3D modeling. 
  • Effective communication and organization are paramount as they often interface directly with the client. 
  • On any given day, the Lead Graphic Designer could work on many different projects simultaneously.  
  • Must be able to adapt to emerging needs and work efficiently through to project completion, coordinating with team and or client as needed.  
  • Time management is key as they must frequently execute projects within tight deadlines, and sometimes must find creative solutions to achieve this. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • BS/BA in Art, Graphic Design, or equivalent related field. 
  • 4+ years of graphic design, graphic artist, or related field. 
  • A strong portfolio that demonstrates your areas of expertise. 
  • Experience in front or back-end web development, specifically WordPress websites running custom themes is a plus as well as video editing or animation.  
  • Examples of retail packaging, signage, or marketing also a plus. 
  • Experience working with retail focused brands a plus 
  • Experience working within the automotive after-market, hardware/DIY, industrial or similar industry a major plus 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • A keen eye for design and layout, with an emphasis on communications. 
  • Professional-level knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, and In-Design. 
  • Knowledge of color, composition, typography, digital design, and production management. 
  • Able to translate requirements into required media and formats. 
  • Apply concepts of perspective, color theory and composition to produce artwork. 
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment under pressure and in sensitive situations. 
  • Strong ability to prioritize, organize, time management, organizational skills, and execute work while handling multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Must have excellent multitasking ability to be able to manage concurrent projects. 
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
