Overview

Performs all clerical duties, plus works independently in performing functions such as, initiating and compiling reports, drafting of correspondence, directing other clerical personnel and organizing office systems. Assists in performing minor administrative duties as outlined and directed by principal.

Responsibilities

- Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, visitors, and other employees. Interacts professionally, courteously, and appropriately with patients, visitors and other employees. Behaves in a manner consistent with maintaining and furthering a positive public perception of Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center and its employees.

- Contributes to and participates in the Performance/Quality Improvement activities of the assigned department. Contribution and participation includes data collection, analysis, implementation of and compliance with risk management and claims activities, support of and participation in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) teams, consistent adherence to the specific rules and regulations of the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center (a) Safety and Security Policies, (b) Risk Management: Incident and Occurrence Reporting, (c) Infection Control Policies and Procedures and (d) Patient and Customer Service.

- Provides comprehensive office support for the Department of Pathology

- Serves as department's representative, e.g., interacting with patients and/or family members concerning the obtaining of pathology reports.

- Screens and directs telephone inquiries to the various laboratories and/or specimen processing areas.

- Prepares bi-weekly employee time sheets (payroll) for administrative review and signature.

- Prepares and follow-ups on Medical Director's check requests.

- Inventories and orders office supplies.

Qualifications

- Two (2) years experience, preferably in a health care environment.

- High School or GED

- Computer literate
