About GW MFA

MFA physicians provide comprehensive patient care, offering one practice for the whole person with 52 medical and surgical specialties. As members of the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences faculty, MFA providers are teachers and mentors for medical students, residents, fellows, and researchers preserving the rich tradition of academics, research, and healing. In addition to maintaining a closely integrated alliance with The George Washington University and The George Washington University Hospital (GWUH), separately owned and operated by Universal Health Services (UHS), the GW MFA has active referring relationships with 12 area hospitals.

Position Summary

Clinical pharmacy services in the outpatient setting are an area of expanded interest nationwide. The introduction of the Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner designation has served to elevate the level of practice and encourage greater involvement of pharmacists in the outpatient provision of patient care and medication management.

At GW Cancer Center, our goal is to increase patient volumes in both the Acute Care and Ambulatory Care environments. The focus of the position will be on providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care and disease management in the ambulatory care setting to adult patients seen at the GWCC. Coordinating with the acute care Hematology/Oncology Clinical Specialists covering the hematologic or solid tumor service and the Specialty Pharmacist in the GW MFA Outpatient Pharmacy, this individual will ensure continuity of care as the patient transitions from acute care to the ambulatory care setting. This individual will also be responsible for providing experiential instruction to trainees and serve as a multidisciplinary partner in support of patient care.
