Your primary goal will be to guide clients towards recovery, improvement in their personal lives, and attainment of sobriety through evidence-based therapy approaches.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough individual assessments to determine the severity and nature of substance abuse problems
  • Develop personalized treatment plans in collaboration with clients, taking into account their unique circumstances and needs
  • Provide counseling sessions to individuals, families, or groups, utilizing a variety of therapeutic techniques such as motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches
  • Support clients in setting and achieving their recovery goals, while recognizing and addressing any co-occurring mental health conditions
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers, to ensure comprehensive and integrated care
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of counseling sessions, treatment plans, and client progress
  • Conduct regular assessments and monitor the effectiveness of treatment interventions, making adjustments as necessary
  • Stay updated on the field's latest research, therapeutic approaches, and developments in substance abuse treatment, integrating new findings into practice when appropriate
  • Provide education and resources to clients, families, and the community on substance abuse prevention and recovery support
  • Adhere to ethical guidelines and professional standards, maintaining client confidentiality and fostering trust and rapport with clients

Qualifications and Skills:- Valid certificationas a Substance Abuse Counselor from an accredited organization- Proficient knowledge of various therapeutic techniques and treatment models, such as motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and relapse prevention strategies- Excellent assessment and counseling skills, demonstrating empathy, active listening, and relationship-building abilities- Strong understanding of addiction patterns, substance use disorders, and co-occurring mental health conditions- Familiarity with electronic health record systems and computer literacy- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, team members, and other professionals- Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity, particularly when working with diverse populations- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of the latest research in substance abuse counseling
