BIOVIA is looking for a motivated Scientific Software Engineer experienced in building and extending cheminformatics methods and tools to join our R&D team in San Diego, CA, in an onsite/hybrid role.

  • This role will be focused on C++ programming to help direct, develop and maintain our suite of chemistry products and applications
  • These applications are a cornerstone of BIOVIA's enterprise solutions for the pharmaceutical, biotechnological and fine-chemical industries
  • This position will be part of a dynamic development team that is dedicated to delivering high-quality, on-time software releases using best-of-breed Agile practices
  • The qualified candidate needs to have an excellent background in programming and ample cheminformatics experience, with an understanding of structure representation and searching
  • Familiarity with software architecture, design, optimization and maintenance
  • In addition to being a hands-on engineer, the successful applicant will develop collaborative working relationships with applications development, quality assurance, product marketing, technical communications, and technical services teams from across the company


Qualifications

• PhD in Organic, Computational or related Chemistry discipline and a few years of programming experience in a commercial environment is most preferred; otherwise education plus experience can be considered

• 2+ years of experience in a combination of academic and on the job experience in chemistry and computer science is required

• Proficiency in C++

• Knowledge of Java, Python and JavaScript is preferred

• Familiarity with the use cases, processes and methods used by pharmaceutical and biotech industry, cheminformaticists, and computational chemistry a major plus.

• Broad technical knowledge in object-oriented design and implementation, design patterns, and software development methodologies.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong analytical and organizational skills.

• Strong personal drive to learn leading-edge technologies and to excel.

• Experience with Agile development methodologies such as Scrum development.

Compensation for this role will be commensurate with experience. The total expected compensation range will be between $135,000 and $180,000, representing the base salary (or annualized salary based on estimated hourly compensation) and target bonus.

Compensation & Benefits

Dassault Systèmes offers an excellent salary with potential for bonus, commensurate with experience.
