You will be familiar with a variety of the database technologies, concepts, methodologies, practices, and procedures and rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. You will perform a variety of complicated tasks with minimal or no direct supervision. You will assist in defining system and application architecture and provide vision, problem anticipation, and problem-solving ability to the company. You will consult with the client to define needs or issues, conduct research, perform studies and surveys to obtain data, and analyze problems to advise on or recommend solutions, utilizing knowledge of theory, principles, or technology of specific discipline or field of specialization.

This is a hybrid position in West Des Moines, IA.

Essential Functions

    • You will keep up to date on emerging database architectures, technologies, and methodologies, and attends training classes as necessary.
    • You will understand and know best practices regarding application of different data solutions such as ETL, data warehouse, data lakes, or data marts from the ground up in support of an organization initiative.
    • You will determine data structural requirements by analyzing client operations, applications, programming, reporting, analytics and informatics; reviewing objectives with product managers and other stakeholders; and evaluating systems.
    • You will develop a data management and governance vision; and clearly articulate vision to senior leadership.
    • You will develop reliable and scalable database solutions through designing and implementing proposed system.
    • You will define database physical structure, functional capabilities, security, back-up, and recovery specifications.
    • You will produce data models, flow diagrams, and flowcharts.
    • You will participate in the identification, prioritization, and development of technical initiatives and strategies.
    • You will work with database analysts to develop methodologies, report views, queries, analytical cubes, and table replications.
    • You will perform systems analysis on database, and resolve performance, capacity, and replication issues as necessary.
    • You will develop and maintain database standards and naming conventions.
    • You will perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Requirements
    • Four year degree in Computer Science or equivalent related experience.
    • 5+ years of database design experience with progressive responsibilities related to data architecture across products.
    • Experience with relational/non-relational, high-performance databases, cloud computing, and Business Intelligence technologies.
    • Demonstrates seasoned judgment to suggest approaches that optimize among customer needs, business constraints, and technological realities.
    • Comfortably moves between highly varying levels of abstraction from business strategy to product strategy to high level technical design to detailed technical design to implementation.
    • Clearly documents and communicates objectives, requirements, and designs at these different levels of abstraction to both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Advanced degree preferred.
    • Experience in Healthcare data preferred.
    • Up to 10% local and overnight travel.
    • Ability to work 2-3 days per week in the West Des Moines, IA office.
