GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

The Massachusetts General Hospital Sexual Health Clinic, an outpatient practice providing comprehensive screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), and HIV post-exposure prophylaxis (nPEP), is seeking a part-time Patient Service Coordinator. The Patient Service Coordinator is central to the function of the clinic, primarily supporting administrative operations. The position encompasses a variety of tasks and responsibilities which serve to facilitate the flow of patients through the clinic and to enhance the quality of care to patients. The emphasis is placed on the ability to organize priorities, complete tasks, manage confidential patient information, schedule appointments, diagnostic testing, referrals and other managed care related issues.

This is a part-time position at 4-8 hrs/week, with the shifts occurring in the evenings (~4:30-8:30 PM) and Saturday mornings (~8 AM-12 PM).

Please note: this position is comprised of approximately 90% administrative tasks and 10% clinical/lab tech tasks.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administrative support/Reception:

• Answer phone, schedule appointment

• Check in patients for visits upon arrival; check out patients upon departure

• Clerical tasks including, but not limited to filing, copying, scanning

• Assists with other Sexual Health Clinic functions, as assigned - i.e. Outreach Event

Clinical Support:

• Verify specimen labeling and requisition accuracy prior to transport

• Maintain database of all testing done in the unit and results of same

• Maintain inventory of supplies, including medication

• Verify prepping specimen requisitions, preparation and shipping

• Use and basic maintenance of lab equipment such as microscopes, centrifuge, incubator and refrigerator

• Maintain documentation of lab quality control and temperature

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

• High School diploma required

• Some college preferred

• Bilingual (Spanish and/or Portuguese) preferred

SKILLS, ABILITIES, COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

• Exceptional organizational skill

• Meticulous attention to detail

• Willingness to handle lab specimen

• Flexibility to manage multiple tasks concurrently and to prioritize appropriately

• Ability to work both independently and a part of a team

• Excellent and effective communication skill

• Microsoft Word and Excel experience

• Willingness to learn about Sexual Health
