The Student Union, Inc. is 501(c)(3) nonprofit auxiliary that maintains three major facilities at San José State University in downtown San José, California. These facilities include the Diaz Compean Student Union Building, the Provident Credit Union Event Center, and the Spartan Recreation and Aquatic Center. The Student Union, Inc. functions as part of the Student Affairs Division on campus, and is governed by a Board of Directors made up of a student majority, faculty, and administrators.

Job Summary
The Club Sports Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Club Sports program. Applies professional concepts, company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues. Areas of oversight include club sport programs, club team office support, staff training/scheduling, policy enforcement and supervision of Club Sports activities using campus facilities. Will assist and support budget planning, monitor expenses, assess program learning outcomes, and work with the SUI marketing team to promote program offerings. The position reports to, and receives direct supervision and direction from the Club Sports Supervisor.

Essential Functions and Tasks
• Ensure all documentation for Club Sports program participation and team travel for competitions are received, processed and approved as per policy.
• Facilitate and maintain the registration of Club Sports student athletes; ensures accuracy of Club Sports documents through regular audits of team paperwork.
• Enforce Club Sports financial policies and procedures, to include purchasing by club teams and accounting for all team travel including submission of team travel receipts.
• Support Club Teams with the annual team budgeting process and monitoring of Club Sports Team budgets and accounts throughout the year.
• Assists with education and training of Club Sports officers and members on Club Sports, Student Union, and University policies and procedures.
• Assists with the advising of students initiating new clubs and providing support through the process of becoming a registered student organization.
• Assists with the onboarding process of Club Sports Team Coaches and with processing of Coach payments for Club Teams.
• Assists with hiring, training and scheduling student supervisors to support club sport activities taking place on the South Campus Recreation Field, Event Center and the Spartan Recreation and aquatic Center (SRAC); assign nightly tasks and serve as direct point of contact for student supervisors after normal business hours.
• Assists with oversight of daily operations and supervision of club sports teams using the South Campus Recreation Field, Event Center Weight Room, Spartan Recreation & Aquatic Center (SRAC) and other campus facilities.
• Supports the preparation of sites and facilities for assigned Club Sports activities to ensure safety, proper setup, and availability.
• Maintains and organizes the Club Sports Administration Office and ensures it is stocked with necessary supplies; Maintains and organizes Club Sports Storage.
• Assists the Club Sports Supervisor in the implementation of emergency procedures, safety practices and risk management procedures and ensures all activities are conducted in accordance to industry standards and safety procedures.
• Works with SUI Marketing department to develop and promote Club Sports activities and promote team recruitment and successes.
• Works with the SUI Student Success and Assessment team to ensure learning outcomes and evaluates student growth/comprehension through technical skill assessments are developed and assessed annually for the student staff.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
• Demonstrated experience in administering comprehensive recreational and competitive club sports programs.
• Ability to communicate clear and concise analytical comments, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and principles.
• Excellent customer service, ability to manage conflicts, and create an inclusive environment. Effectively and frequently with students, campus community members, vendors and the general public.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, web browsers, query tools, integrated financial systems and/or other types of records management systems.
• Ability to define problem areas, collect data, perform preliminary analyses and make appropriate recommendations.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
• The position works in a wide variety of environments including both a typical office as well as an outdoors and indoor facility program-oriented environment.
• The physical demands of this position are described below
a. Sitting, walking, twisting, bending, climbing, pulling, pushing, squatting, crawling, kneeling, balancing, reaching, and coordination (eye, hand, foot).
b. Fall (Slip, Trip) Conditions that result in falls (impacts) from height or traditional walking and playing surfaces.
c. Lifting and carrying, frequently 10-25lbs, occasionally 26-50lbs.
d. Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone.
e. Dexterity of hands, fingers, and wrist to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
• In general, the position works a schedule based on business needs 12 p.m. - 8 p.m., Monday - Friday, may work evenings and weekends as required.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Sport Management, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
• Two years of experience in collegiate competitive Club Sports or Athletics.
• Current CPR and AED certifications required or must be obtained within the first month of employment.

Preferred Qualifications
? Master's degree in Recreation, Student Development, or related field
? Demonstrated experience in large student recreation centers, student unions, student activities, and residence life or student development.
? Experience in a large, non-profit corporation.
? Involvement in professional societies and organizations.
? Demonstrated knowledge of Fusion Member Management system.
? Demonstrated ability to articulate the role campus life plays in recruitment, student success, retention, and graduation, and a commitment to college student development and student leadership.
