Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Public Health Program Specialist to join our team in Jefferson City, MO. This second-level professional position involves the planning, promotion, implementation, and evaluation of public health programs, services, and grants, as well as the enforcement of environmentally influenced public health laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Program Implementation & Evaluation: Plan, promote, implement, and evaluate public health programs, services, or grants. Assist in implementing public health laws and regulations related to environmental health.
  • Partner Engagement: Provide assistance and guidance to partners, contractors, and agencies involved in program implementation. Work with a broad range of stakeholders with varying levels of expertise.
  • Field Activities: Conduct inspections and surveys related to public health programs. Participate in or lead public health events across the state.
  • Budget Assistance: Assist in the development of program budgets to ensure effective resource allocation.
  • Training Development: Develop training materials, including PowerPoints, handouts, and quizzes, to educate and guide program participants.
  • Communication & Teamwork: Exhibit strong communication skills and collaborate effectively with other program managers and staff.
  • Grant Management: Research, draft, and submit grant deliverables and associated measures. Ensure timely preparation of federal reports, program updates, contracts, and amendments.
  • Contract Monitoring: Monitor contracts to ensure that deliverables are met and aligned with program goals.
  • Committee Involvement: Work with the Statewide CHW Advisory Committee to contribute to program development and growth opportunities.
  • Special Projects: Identify and pursue special projects that align with the program's goals and objectives.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Public Health or a related field. (Substitutions may be allowed based on experience.)
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in public health program implementation, community partnerships, or grant writing.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in commonly used office computer programs. Experience in developing and delivering training materials.
  • Travel & Flexibility: Willingness to travel throughout the state and occasionally out-of-state for training opportunities. Availability for occasional weekend or evening work is required.
  • Preferred Background: Knowledge of chronic disease prevention and management. Experience working with community partners, and coalitions, and in developing internal and external partnerships.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to work independently and manage a wide range of duties to support the program.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Note: This position is based in Jefferson City, MO, with 70% remote work flexibility. Candidates must be willing to travel within the state and occasionally out of state.
