This role will support applications as a part of a mission modernization effort which utilize databases for migrating data from a legacy system as well as for storing data which has been extracted from the new application. The databases are used for data migration, reporting, and analytical purposes. Candidate must have extensive knowledge of database design and development methodologies, be able to work well in a fast-paced environment, successfully interface with multiple teams, and analyze business needs and transform them into actionable requirements.

*Position is contingent upon contract award

Position is currently based in Washington DC. Contract transitioning to Huntsville, AL in future.

Required Responsibilities/Duties:
  • 10 years of experience designing and building relational databases; writing SQL queries and reporting findings; supporting enterprise level projects.
  • Must have strong systems and data analysis skills, and exemplary organization and communication skills.
  • Experience defining, designing, and building dimensional databases.
  • Experience developing a data warehouse, evaluating hardware and software platforms, and integrating systems.
  • Experience performing optimization of disparate data sources.
  • Experience working in a data warehouse/big data environment, which includes data design and database architecture.
  • Experience translating business needs into long-term architecture solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must have the ability to communicate and translate technical concepts to functional clients.
  • Solid understanding of ETL processes.
  • Independent worker and analytical thinker with ability to conduct research, data analysis and resolve complex problems.
  • Detail oriented with proven ability to adapt to a dynamic organization.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills (both oral and written) with a customer service orientation and demonstrated ability to effectively interact at all levels across the organization to build successful relationships.
  • Excellent consultative, conflict resolution, negotiation and facilitation skills to gain consensus in a matrixed and complex organization.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to think out of the box and generate creative solutions; ability to break a complex problem down into its component parts and arrive at the appropriate solution in a timely fashion.
  • Must be flexible and able to thrive in a time-sensitive environment to meet strict deadlines with sudden and unpredictable needs with a high tolerance for ambiguity.

Required Qualifications:
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, business management, or IT-related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Security+ Certification.
