Description
The overall purpose of the Regional MDS Coordinator position is to ensure appropriate reimbursement of Medicare and/or Medicaid Patients through the Patient Assessment Instrument (RAI) process. Assists in the management of quality Patient care on a continuing basis in accordance with federal and state standards.
Essential Functions:
- Review and coordinate Medicaid and Medicare Case Mix data for the region
- Validate MDS coding, ICD-10 coding and RUG groupers
- Conduct detailed review of documentation to assist in accurate MDS 3.0 completion to ensure the appropriate level of reimbursement through accurate resident assessment
- Assess current processes and evaluate compliance with company standards, as well as Long Term Care regulations
- Provide education to licensed and non-licensed staff
- Identify opportunities and make recommendations as needed
Qualifications:
- Must have a current RN/LVN license
- Medicaid or Medicare MDS Nurse
- 3 - 5 years MDS/RAI experience required
- Case Mix Management experience required in a long term care setting
- Must maintain current CPR certification
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent computer software skills
- Ability to multi-task and oversee multi-facility functions on a daily basis
- Ability to direct and lead staff of multiple facilities
