About this position

This position is responsible for coordinating services for children enrolled in the agency's voucher program of the Family Child Care Home Education Network. The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively, work both independently and collaboratively within a small, close-knit team, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for someone with an upbeat, positive attitude who is eager to support the organization's mission and achieve its strategic goals.

What you'll be doing

  • Maintaining effective documentation on activities, including the progress of children enrolled in the Family Child Care Home Education Network contract;
  • Completing and conducting parent conferences to discuss each child's progress;
  • Maintaining current knowledge of child care assessment tools;
  • Completing the child care assessment tool for each voucher program child as required;
  • Planning, implementing and facilitating parent education and parent involvement components for voucher families;
  • Coordinating social services, counseling, health, and special education referrals with voucher program parents;
  • Conducting home visits with participating voucher providers;
  • Training and scoring voucher providers using current child care environment assessment tools;
  • Offering training on child development topics;
  • Modeling developmentally appropriate practices;
  • Assisting participating voucher providers with nutritional needs of children;
  • Surveying participating voucher providers to meet their needs and interests for training;
  • Assisting participating voucher providers with child care issues, licensing regulations, and other program concerns;
  • Monitoring attendance records for compliance;
  • Mediating between voucher parents and providers when needed;
  • Using sensitivity and good judgment when interacting with children, parents, and providers;
  • Assisting in updating the voucher parent/provider handbook;
  • Assisting with provider events;
  • Maintaining knowledge of and compliance with Community Care Licensing regulations, and Funding Terms and Conditions;
  • Preparing reports, as needed, for managers/supervisors and program directors;
  • Reading and implementing all organization and voucher program policies and procedures;
  • Maintaining current and accurate records with strict confidentiality;
  • Accurately completing all assigned paperwork and documentation on a timely basis, according to organization policies and procedures;
  • Assisting in gathering information needed for the annual program self-evaluation report;
  • Attending trainings as required;
  • Representing the organization at meetings;
  • Assisting management as needed;
  • Actively participating in the agency's in-service training;
  • Abiding by all of Options for Learning's policies and procedures;
  • Performing other duties and special projects as assigned.
What you bring to the table
  • Associate's degree in child development or related field;
  • Bachelor's degree in child development or a related field (preferred);
  • Two years of experience in a professional capacity in child development programs;
  • Experience with Desired Results for Children and Families (preferred);
  • Experience with Environment Rating Scales (preferred);
  • Ability to work well with people, a sensitivity to the needs of children and families;
  • Computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheets;
  • Ability to correctly and effectively communicate in written and oral English;
  • Command of Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin or Vietnamese (preferred);
  • A California driver's license, daily use of an automobile, and automobile liability insurance.

Job specifications
  • Reports to the senior provider outreach manager;
  • Full-time, 12-month work year;
