THE OPPORTUNITY
The Sales Engineer collaborates with the business development team to execute strategic sales plans with an identified customer base. This position will be the expert in product knowledge to effectively communicate the benefits and advantages of the products to customers. They will serve as a liaison in the sales process when technical equipment or services are involved. They will support solution selling, deliver powerful presentations and demos, manage technical aspects of RFP/RFI responses, communicate customer needs to R&D team, and collect competitive intelligence. In addition, they will contribute to new customer acquisition, customer satisfaction, and overall business development and engineering team success.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Delivers assigned sales volume to achieve the company’s growth objectives.
- Supports the business development team with solution selling to prospective and current strategic customers
- Develop an understanding of the customer base, market, and individual customer needs while building and maintaining customer relationships.
- Deliver powerful product presentations/demonstrations to customers that highlight our value-added features and explain the benefits of products. Able to clearly articulate the uniqueness of our value proposition to the customer.
- Respond to customers' technical questions regarding our products' features, applications, technology, and recommended cleaning options.
- Overcomes technical and business objections of prospective customers to win the business.
- Successfully identify and match customers’ needs/requirements to proposed solutions
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field preferred
- Minimum of 2 - 4 years of related experience in manufacturing, industrial, or engineering sales.
- Ability to travel up to 25 – 30% of the time.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with internal and external customers at all levels of the organization providing courteous, timely and accurate information.
- Excellent sales and presentation skills with a proven ability to explain technical products to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to apply engineering, technology, or other related principles to product sales.
- Demonstrated ability to use critical thinking skills for problem-solving
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel. Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) software and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP).
