ArcelorMittal North America is seeking a Sales Manager who will be selling to one of the Detroit 3 Automotive OEMs and managing the business along with leading a team. The position will report to our Director, Automotive Sales and will drive revenue growth for our automotive business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Initiate, develop, and sustain strong external customer relationships with Automotive OEM customers and associated stampers (Tier 1s) and represent ArcelorMittal North America automotive. Act as key global and regional contact for the customer; represent the company as "one face to the customer" promoting ArcelorMittal as "supplier of choice".
  • Establish and maintain the regional customer interface, including responsibility for meeting supply metric targets, developing relationships at senior levels, and negotiating price and supply contracts.
  • Drive Performance to account sales objectives (Price and Volume) and other metrics; identify and execute corrective actions and support continuous improvement efforts. Areas of focus include contract negotiations, business development, strategy development, understanding of leverage and gaps (Quality, Delivery, Service, Credit, etc.), global product development and technology (with support from the Global Technology Coordinator), benchmarking/best practices and relationship management with OEM's global headquarters.
  • Develop, implement, manage, and execute Strategic Account Plans and Objectives for the Auto OEM Account and ensure account plans are in alignment with the North America short (Business Plan) and long-term strategies. (5-year strategy plan) to drive desired business results.
  • Ensure the supply units are aligned with customer needs, monitor and follow-up to ensure required performance is achieved.

  • Be knowledgeable of the OEM's global footprint, strategy, ArcelorMittal relationship in all regions, and able to provide internal direction on global customer issues as they arise.
  • Identify and support the development the introduction of new/strategic products with across the regional footprint operations, that meet and exceed customer requirements Lead the definition & the promotion of new services for the customer.
  • Coordinate with non-flat ArcelorMittal divisions to add value in supply and/or service as needed (e.g., ArcelorMittal Tubular Products, ArcelorMittal Tailored Blanks).
  • Manage the account team human resources effectively, including work assignments, projects, training, mentoring, succession planning, and development.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENT
  • Strong and effective communications skills (written, verbal and presentation) required with the ability to communicate effectively with employees, customers, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong and effective negotiating skills both internally and externally required.
  • Strong strategic and Global thinker; Strong analytical skills and ability to dive into details.
  • Strong and effective leadership skills and organizational skills. Ability to lead a team and motivate them to achieve goals for Automotive OEM account team (Price, volume, forecasting performance, Superior performance in Quality, Delivery and Technology, etc)
  • Excellent project management skills are required.
  • Basic Steelmaking knowledge and understanding of automotive processes and products.
  • Ability to function independently and with minimal guidance.
  • Strong Excel, Word and Power Point Skills are needed.
  • Basic knowledge on sustainability
  • Ability to work with multi-functional team and demonstrate ownership of OEM account - Be the face to the customer for ArcelorMittal in the region.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 10-12 years in Sales and/or customer engagement. Automotive sales experience is a huge bonus.
  • Any knowledge about Detroit 3 OEMs or Automotive supply chain or existing relationships is a huge plus.
  • Demonstrable experience of involvement in the development and successful execution of commercial strategy, programs, and initiatives in a large global/multinational or similar organization.
  • Experience in building strong, collaborative business relationships and track record of business development.
  • Experience with strong data analyses, analytical thinking, and benchmarking skills.
  • Demonstrate strong negotiation skills (external & internal)
  • Experience with the 'Automotive OEM Culture'
  • Quick learner on new concepts outside area of regular work and ability to apply to customer interaction.
  • Should have a demonstrated understanding of auto manufacture and the steel industry's process to support it.
  • Knowledge about ArcelorMittal and Automotive franchise business. Must have an understanding of a steel producing plant and product knowledge.

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, or related field.
  • MBA preferred or equivalent skills by experience.
  • Executive training or courses in the following areas is preferred: Negotiations; Team Development & Coaching; Steel Metallurgical concepts.
LANGUAGE
  • Fluent in English - good communication for discussion, presentation, and meetings preparation.
  • Any other language skill is a plus.
OTHER IMPORTANT DETAILS
  • Travel: Travel is required, primarily to the customer offices and manufacturing sites and the various ArcelorMittal steel mills and offices. This may peak to ~40% time in some months.
  • Location: Southfield - MI, USA. Relocation required if not in the area. Role is expected to be an office-based job.
