Job Description

Under limited supervision, performs general labor work. Picks up and disposes of trash, bulk items, scraps, etc. Receives, inventories, and stores materials as they arrive. Delivers parts and supplies to the field. Keeps vehicles, shop, tools, warehouse, and materials in a clean and orderly manner.

Compensation:

$19.92/hour (non-exempt)

This is a Union position with 1 opening.

Reporting Relationship:

Reports to: Heavy Lead Technician, Fleet Maintenance Superintendent, Director of Fleet Maintenance

Supervises: n/a

Responsibilities

Essential Duties

  1. Works from oral instructions and written work orders.
  2. Cleans and washes vehicles, trucks, equipment, and tools.
  3. Keeps all work areas, parking lots, areas surrounding buildings, storage yard, and warehouses clean by organizing, sweeping, washing, and picking up trash.
  4. Cleans and maintains Shop tools and equipment.
  5. Picks up and delivers parts and supplies. Handles errands for Fleet Shop as needed.
  6. Ensures par levels are kept and communicates with Manager on supplies that need to be replenished.
  7. Checks in freight and ensures all items are received and put in the appropriate warehouse location.
  8. Operates a forklift to move material and load/unload.
  9. Inputs basic data into Excel.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Qualification/Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Requires good verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Requires relating to people in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Requires working to the established procedures and maintaining reliable work attendance.
  • Requires the ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Able to think and make effective decisions quickly.
  • Ability to create effective working relationships with people.
  • Must be able to maintain a positive attitude and work under pressure.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Capable of being a certified fork lift operator as soon as a class is offered.
Required Work Cards/Certifications:
  • Valid Hawaii Driver's License, with CDL "A" endorsement, and successful review of Motor Vehicle Record.
Physical Requirements:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, carry, lift, and drive.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, and color vision.
  • Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions.
