Major Gifts Officer

The Major Gifts Officer at Jesuit Dallas is responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of donors and prospective donors in support of Jesuit's fundraising goals and initiatives. Reporting to the Director of Development, the ideal candidate is self-motivated with a proven track record of successful relationship building and securing of philanthropic gifts, or a successful sales record in the for-profitsector. The Major Gifts Officer will also be responsible for implementing and expanding on a comprehensive stewardship program that appropriately and consistently promotes recognition of the Institution's donors.
Essential Functions
Cultivate, solicit, steward, and manage a portfolio of 150-200 major gift prospects including alumni, parents, parents of grads, and others in the Jesuit community.
Directly solicit gifts, working with advancement staff, administration, faculty, and volunteers to implement successful solicitation strategies for major gifts, annual appeals, and eventsponsorships.
Collaborate with members of the advancement staff during fundraising/community events, gift recognition, reporting, etc., and all activities that support the operational needs of the Advancement Office.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required with three or more years experience in a fundraising or sales environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Proven success building and maintaining trusted relationships with key stakeholders and the ability to interact with multiple constituencies.
Ability to communicate the philosophy and mission of the School as part of the cultivation process.
Demonstrated accomplishment in the acquisition of donor gifts and the ability to strategize, formulate, and close gifts.
Ability to handle multiple tasks in an exciting, fast-paced environment.
Working knowledge of Blackbaud Raiser's Edge preferred.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Minimal travel and occasional night and weekend work may be required.
Works in a highly stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
May alternatively work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time while also spending a lot of hours walking and/or standing.
Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
