Summary

The Senior Accountant analyzes revenue and expense accounts, and prepares variance reports while working with the company’s overall operating plans. They are responsible for maintaining finance reporting on all areas of the business and assisting with weekly projections, annual budgets and month end close process.

What You Will Do

Analyze financial data by collecting, monitoring and creating financial models for decision support for Advertising, Circulation, Ad Revenue, and strategic objectives Improve financial status by analyzing results; monitoring variances; identifying trends; recommending actions to management Support the weekly Flash and Annual budgeting processes and month end close Identify financial status by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts Provide trends and forecasts Increases productivity by developing automated reporting/forecasting tools Prioritize workload with minimal supervision and manage multiple projects

What You Will Bring

Analytical (quantitative as well as qualitative) skills including building models Self-starter with the ability to streamline functions Strong financial analysis foundation creating forecasts and models Proficiency with Microsoft Excel data query/data management tools is required Have extensive understanding of financial processes, systems and controls and responsibility for documenting the processes Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure, dynamic environment, with tight deadlines Interpersonal and interrelation skills with an ability to establish build and maintain relationships with a variety of people across divisions Outstanding communication skills, both written and spoken Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics required Two (2) years of directly-related experience required; five (5) years in general ledger accounting Knowledge of Oracle financial system and reporting is a plus
