What You Will Be Doing

The Senior Staff Accountant will oversees and support the accounting team and all the accounting activities. They should be experienced in all aspects of financial management, including non-profit, partnership and corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. The Senior Staff Accountant should have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and an excellent understanding of real estate and construction business.

Essential Job Functions Ensure accounting activities are compliant with the company’s accounting regulations and external audits. Knowledge of US GAAP and other financial standards and requirements. Supervise month-end and year-end close process including review of reports prior to distribution to stakeholders. Prepare timely monthly consolidated financial statements. Coordinate the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, variance reports and financial dashboards. Prepare regulatory reporting including annual and periodic review audits. Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings. Continued focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls. Understanding of taxation, payroll and other fiscal aspects of a business. Assist management of all accounting operations. Additional duties, as necessary. Leadership and Talent Development Inspire, motivate and capture team commitment and help team members create a pathway to both individual and our collective long-term success and growth. Develop a strong discipline of role clarity and hold self and team members accountable for performance and collaboration with the whole enterprise establishing and maintaining an inclusive and diverse culture that provides a positive team member experience and ensures proactive performance management based on feedback, coaching and mentoring. Advocate for appropriate academic, technical and leadership training and development opportunities for all team members. Recruit and develop teams with an appropriate mix of experience, capabilities and skills to consistently meet company goals and departmental initiatives in the most cost-effective manner. Ensure effective succession planning for all pivotal positions. Required Qualifications 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience, preferably in the construction industry CPA preferred Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures Experience with financial statement preparation for all types of legal entities Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process and consolidations Experience in preparing and review of partnership, corporate, payroll and tax filings Experience with various accounting software administration Proficient with the following software/tools: Word, Outlook, Excel, Pivot Tables and QuickBooks. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively. Physical Requirements
