Morning Star has been supporting youth since 1957. Our BRS program in Spokane, WA, provides a nurturing environment for children to grow and learn, including agriculture activities with horses, goats, chickens, and gardening.

Job Summary:

This position coordinates care services for Morning Star residential BRS program clients, including pre intake, intake, and client services. This role involves discharge planning, developing and implementing safety and treatment plans, addressing medical needs, and coordinating therapy and counseling services. The role requires always prioritizing the clients needs and maintaining a strength bases philosophy.

Essential Functions include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate and facilitate resident care through assessment, evaluation, planning, and implementation.
  • Manages a variety of services such as crisis intervention, educational services, individual, group, and family counseling, parenting skills, and youth mentoring.
  • Keep current on community resources and services available to assist residents and their families.
  • Advocate for resident needs to staff, family, state social workers, or school authorities.
  • Participate in staff meetings and staff training sessions. Coordinate and lead/facilitate monthly CFTMs.
  • Document client interactions and collateral contacts daily as well as establish and maintain detailed, confidential records for each resident according to procedure.
  • Understanding of reporting requirements per licensing and Washington State law. Reporting information to the state and court. Attend meetings or testify as needed.
  • Will have direct supervision and interaction with the residents on a regular and consistent basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Have reliable, insured vehicle, and valid driver's license.
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Excellent organizational and critical-thinking skills as well as multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to stay calm in difficult and emotional situations and to counsel troubled youth and their families.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Experience with Washington State reporting requirements.

Education and Experience:

•Master's degree in social services or a closely related field; or

•Bachelor's degree in social services or a closely related field; and

•Two (2) years of documented experience working with children or youth in one of or a combination of the following settings:

o Mental Health Hospital;

o Juvenile Rehabilitation facility, detention center, law enforcement, or corrections; or

o A child placing agency or a residential care program in a case management or similar position working with at-risk families and youth.

•Associate's degree in social services or a closely related field and three (3) years of documented experience working with children or youth in one of or a combination of the following settings:

o Mental Health Hospital;

o Juvenile Rehabilitation facility, detention center, law enforcement, or corrections; or

o A child placing agency or a residential care program in a case management or similar position working with at-risk families and youth.

•High school diploma or equivalent credential and four (4) years of documented experience working with children or youth in one of or a combination of the following settings:

o Mental Health Hospital;

o Juvenile Rehabilitation facility, detention center, law enforcement, or corrections; or

o A child placing agency or a residential care program in a case management or similar position working with at-risk families and youth.

Salary Description

$23.00-$27.50 per hour
