We are looking for highly-motivated individuals who enjoy working as part of a team in a dynamic and entrepreneurial work environment.
This Accountant is responsible for preparing the monthly G&A Package, including analysis and reconciliation, as well as, preparing monthly journal entries, and Joint Venture (JV) reporting packages. This position reports to the Supervisor of Financial Accounting.
The selected candidate will be eligible for company benefits including Medical/Dental/Vision, vacation time off, and flex days. Additionally, this position comes with the option of a hybrid work schedule, combining working in our Houston office with working remotely.
Essential Job Functions:
Analyze General & Administrative accounts to ensure completeness and accuracy
Responsible for variance explanations
Distribution of completed and approved monthly G&A Package
Document and update desk procedures, including monthly timeline
Provide quarterly and yearly support for 8K and 10K requirements
Be willing to work overtime during the monthly close if needed
Prepare Journal entries (Oracle) for G&A, G&A Allocation, JV’s, Miscellaneous Prepaids, and others as needed.
Support JV and FERC Reporting
Maintain audit fee binder
Effective in a dynamic and fast-paced and high-volume environment, adapting to and managing change in a positive and proactive manner
Adhere to monthly and quarterly general ledger close and financial reporting deadlines
Responsible for understanding and explaining the assigned general ledger account reconciliations, including supporting documentation
Ad Hoc request as needed.
Knowledge & Skills:
Strong communication skills both written and verbal and ability to interact effectively with various levels of staff and management in various departments.
Motivated, self-directed and results-driven approach to work.
Excellent organizational skills, deadline-driven and a fast learner.
Must be a team player and responsible individual who takes initiative/ownership of tasks.
Good understanding of general accounting tasks.
Focus on work quality – accurate, thorough, and pays attention to details.
Capable of establishing working relationships that promote teamwork.
Knowledge of computer systems and programs such as Oracle (R12), Cognos and TM1.
Proficient with MS Office, including strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, etc.).
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
2-4 years relevant accounting and industry experience preferred.
Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks
Compliance with the Company’s drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing.
