Summary: As a Workers' Compensation Loss Control Specialist, your primary responsibility is to assess and mitigate risks associated with workplace environments to prevent employee injuries and reduce workers' compensation costs for our clients. This role will be responsible for the management and monitoring of the workers' compensation program for designated clients. This role plays a critical role in safeguarding employee health and well-being while helping our clients maintain compliance with safety regulations and reduce workers' compensation costs. By assessing risks, implementing safety measures, and promoting a culture of safety, this position will contribute significantly to the overall success and health of our clients and their employees. Key Responsibilities 1) Collaborative Partnerships/Customer Service: Ability to be prompt, accurate, confidential and cordial in assisting employees and clients with questions and problems. Responsible for developing, maintaining and mutual, successful partnerships between employer representatives, medical provider and insurance companies2) Incident/ Accident Notification and Investigations: Initial and ongoing point of contact for communications and documentation regarding incidents and accidents including first report of injury notification from employees and clients. Provideall relevant documentation regarding work related incidents to the carrier to assist in the determination of compensability, recordability and record keeping requirements. This includes determining mechanism of injury, work restrictions and managing the information related to work related injury/illness. Conducts interviews to obtain applicable data for filing with the respective insurance carrier and will work directly with internal Safety Consultant to conduct thorough accident investigations. 3) Risk Assessments: Conduct comprehensive assessments of workplace environments, processes, and equipment to identify potential hazards and risks. Actively participate andimplement risk mitigation strategies and work with Safety Consultant on a review of all risk assessments.4) Policy Development: Assist in developing and implementing safety policies, procedures, and programs tailored to specific workplace needs and regulatory requirements.5) Data Analysis: Analyze injury and incident data to identify trends, root causes, and areas for improvement. Utilize this data to develop targeted strategies for risk reduction. Analyzes client workers compensation history to identify trends and implements prevention strategies to reduce workplace accidents and illnesses. 6) Consultation: Provide expert guidance and consultation to employers, managers, and employees on safety practices, regulatory compliance, and risk management strategies. 7) Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of assessments, inspections, training sessions, and consultations. Prepare reports outlining findings, recommendations, and progress towards safety goals. Facilitates claim filing, witness statements, medical provider updates and maintains applicable and required Workers Compensation documentation and OSHA logs for clients. 8) Compliance Monitoring: Monitor compliance with safety regulations and client company policies. Recommend adjustments to policies and procedures as needed to enhance safety and mitigate risks. Ensures that the carrier/TPA manages the claims diligently providing relevant claim details, implement plan for timely resolution of claims, and reserve exposure. 9) Continuous Improvement and Risk Mitigation:Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to workplace safety and workers' compensation. Implement continuous improvement initiatives based on new knowledge and insights. 10) Underwriting Process: Working closely with the Controller, provide a thorough assessment of prospect's current situations when quoting. Required Position Qualifications•Bachelor's degree in business, occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, risk management, or a related field and / or 7+ years relevant experience. •Previous experience in occupational health and safety, risk management, or workers' compensation.•Knowledge of state worker's compensation laws as well as the procedures and regulations. •Demonstrated critical thinking skills - using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.•Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.•Customer/client service driven with a proven track record of working well in a team environment with minimal supervision. •Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional demeanor in a setting clients and situations. •Effective verbal and written communication skills with proficiency in conducting training and delivering presentations.•Proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook. •Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record.
