The individual will work with both internal and external stakeholders on collateral related matters, as well as coordinating across functional teams by aligning activities and deliverables with Controllership, Actuarial, Reinsurance and FP&A, in support of the companys broader initiatives. This individual will report to the Assistant Director of Reinsurance Accounting and Reinsurer Reporting. The individual hired will oversee a global cross functional team of up to 5 resources, along with an off-shore team. Specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:Specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:Internal and external reinsurance operationalization and associated financial bookingLead a team in financial reporting activities (GAAP/STAT), with a focus on quarterly and annual statutory statements, including disclosures, retroactive reinsurance accounting and deposit accountingWork closely with financial controls unit, internal and external audit on reinsuranceResponsible for key reinsurance accounting processes and associated controlsPrioritize and address various broad and individual projects, process improvement and transformation initiatives as they ariseProvide guidance and recommendations as it relates to reviewing optimal options and solutions to new and existing issues as they arise by leveraging knowledge of existing constraintsPosition has visibility at departmental senior management level, and interacts with various levels of internal and external individuals and organizationsExpected to create alignment through thought leadership, critical thinking, direction/context setting and stakeholder communications.What were looking for:Education:Bachelors Degree (Accounting or Finance Major Preferred)Advanced degree and/or designation in a related field a plus (i.e. ARe or CPCU designations, MBA, CPA, MS, PhD, ACAS, FCAS, etc.)Experience:6+ years of relevant experience in an insurance/reinsurance companyExtensive ceded reinsurance experience; managing and leading others; increasing levels of responsibility in a large-scale organizationKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAdvanced knowledge of reinsurance including underwriting, claims, accounting, finance and associated process, controls and systemsExperience managing reinsurance operations and financeKnowledge of relevant trends and information within the industryWorking knowledge of financial analysis and financial modelingStrong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, the insurance/reinsurance markets, and the analysis and reporting of financial dataKnowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resourcesTechnical and/or analytic expertise that can be adapted to current technologiesWorking knowledge of systems and technology utilized within area of responsibilityStrong technical skills in Microsoft Excel, Access, Power Point and WordStrong verbal and written communication skills with significant experience interacting with executive management and external stakeholdersStrong negotiation, analytical, decision making, problem resolution and organizational skills5+ years of experience engaging with diverse teams across multiple countries and time zonesProcess transformation and control improvement experience is a definite plus#LI-CY1Enjoy benefits that take care of what mattersAt AIG, our people are our greatest asset.
