Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies, manage financial reporting, and lead our accounting team. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all accounting activities to ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
  • Supervise weekly payroll processing to guarantee accuracy.
  • Lead and manage the monthly close process, including approving journal entries and reviewing reconciliations.
  • Manage all state, local, and federal tax filings.
  • Prepare, review, and issue financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Lead annual third-party financial audits and manage financial statement footnote disclosures.
  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls and processes.
  • Develop an internal audit program to evaluate control effectiveness.
  • Oversee and maintain accounting system (NetSuite) and associated applications.
  • Evaluate new technical accounting developments and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Support internal operational and compliance programs.
Location: On-site at Planet Aid Corporate Headquarters in Elkridge, Maryland (Frequent travel to Milford, Massachusetts required, less than 20%)

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, including 3 years managing teams.
  • Experience leading an annual, third-party financial audit, required.
  • Experience in the NGO/non-profit sector and/or manufacturing industry preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, financial planning, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and accounting software (NetSuite preferred).
  • Ability to travel occasionally to our Massachusetts office.
