This opportunity is contingent upon award Position Overview The Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) will be responsible for the overall security of information systems within the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA). The ISSO will ensure that all systems comply with applicable security policies, standards, and guidelines. This role involves managing and mitigating risks, conducting security assessments, and implementing security measures to protect DSCA's information assets. Work Location Pentagon, VA Job Responsibilities and/or Success Factors Develop, implement, and maintain an information security program that aligns with federal standards, including NIST, FISMA, and DoD directives. Ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies, regulations, and standards across all DSCA information systems. Conduct regular security risk assessments, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing to identify and address security weaknesses. Develop and maintain System Security Plans (SSPs) and other relevant security documentation. Oversee the implementation of security controls and measures to protect DSCA’s information systems from unauthorized access, modification, or destruction. Monitor and analyze security alerts and incidents, and coordinate incident response activities. Conduct security audits and reviews to ensure continuous compliance with established security policies and procedures. Provide guidance and support for the accreditation and certification of information systems in accordance with federal standards. Collaborate with DSCA leadership and stakeholders to promote cybersecurity awareness and best practices. Stay up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies to continuously improve DSCA’s information security posture. Education and Minimum Qualifications Must be a US Citizen. TS/SCI Clearance Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). Minimum of 5 years of experience in information security, with a focus on security compliance and risk management. Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CAP, or equivalent are highly desirable. Comprehensive understanding of federal cybersecurity regulations and standards, including NIST SP 800 series and FISMA. Strong knowledge of security assessment and authorization (A&A) processes. Proven experience in developing and maintaining security documentation, including SSPs and POA&Ms. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex cybersecurity concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
