Summary:
Must be able to independently perform echocardiographic procedures of common congenital heart diseases according to standards set by the Echocardiography Laboratory and obtain accurate data with minimal supervision. This individual must have an excellent understanding of physiology and anatomy with some knowledge of pathology as it pertains to the heart. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and ICARE values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:
1. Independently perform and provide timely preliminary report of findings on patients including premature infants, neonates, children, adolescents and adults referred for evaluation of suspected or known congenital and acquired heart disease.
2. Obtain image and Doppler information required to define complex congenital heart disorders for patients referred for evaluation of non-corrected anatomy and function and/or evaluation of surgical reconstruction or repair, or placement of prosthetic devices.
3. Place performed studies with pre-reading on Cardio Merge according to Echo Lab protocol.
4. Assist with correlation of findings with reported or anticipated results from prior fetal echo studies.
5. Assist in preparation of echocardiography materials for case conferences, CQI meetings, research and educational presentations.
6. Assist in training hospital residents, fellows, students and technologists from other institutions as directed.
7. Perform electrocardiograms as needed.
8. Rotation to offsite clinics if required by job needs.
9. Responsible for CPT-4 coding procedures and ICD-10 diagnoses for patients under cardiologists guidelines and enter codes into Radiant EPIC in a timely manner.
10. Must be pleasant and professional when performing echocardiograms and have excellent communication skills when speaking with patients, family members and medical and paramedical personnel.
11. Participates in Echo Lab maintenance rotation as assigned.
12. This is inclusive of, but not limited to, routinely cleaning and checking all echocardiogram equipment before and after use and preparing for next use.
13. Notify appropriate personnel when equipment needs servicing or is damaged.

Other information:
Required Job Qualifications:
•Two years of college or 10 years of experience required.
•RDMS or RDCS certification in adult or pediatric cardiology.
•CPR Certification.
•Must be able to work independently.
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
•Advanced knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, physiology and pathology as related to heart and fetal circulation.
•Above average ability to independently handle multiple priorities and stressful deadline-oriented situations.
•Above average ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing situations/environment and assess and solve problems.

Preferred Job Qualifications:
•Associate's degree in cardiac technology or equivalent.
•Registry in pediatric and fetal echocardiography.
•Candidate with demonstrated pediatric echo experience.
•Candidate with experience in fetal echocardiography.
•Four years of experience in echocardiography to enable independent call capacity within two years of employment.

Physical Demands:
•Ability to move a portable 550 pound machine throughout the hospital.

•Seasoned professional that has experience in various radiology/diagnostic areas

•Leads members of sonography team on a day to day basis
•Provides support to Clinic Director for staff scheduling, clinic workflow, etc
•Directly supervises staff and is responsible for performance evaluations, volume management, process improvement, and assist with programmatic growth
