Position Overview:
Join us at The University of Chicago Medicine as a Pediatric Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist in our specialized Pediatric Heart Station.
We offer a competitive sign-on bonus of up to $5,000.
In this role, you will conduct pediatric transthoracic echocardiography examinations and assist in all facets of echocardiographic imaging under the guidance of a Cardiac Sonographer II or III, and under the overall supervision of the Medical Director of the Noninvasive Cardiac Imaging Laboratory.
Our echocardiography specialists at Comer Children's Hospital are skilled in a variety of echo procedures, including transthoracic echocardiography, fetal echocardiography, and Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE). The pediatric lab at Comer Children's is accredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) for Pediatric, Fetal, and Transesophageal Echocardiograms.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare patients for Transthoracic echo and Stress Echo procedures, ensuring all indications are reviewed and previous studies are compared to accurately address inquiries from referring physicians.
2. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff in a respectful and compassionate manner.
3. Utilize the Xcelera data archiving system and Electronic Medical Records to document, charge, and report procedures.
4. Actively engage in process improvement initiatives.
5. Participate in research and publication efforts to remain at the forefront of the field.
6. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of clinical hours at an accredited laboratory.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Pursuing registry status with either Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
Licenses/Certifications:
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification.
Position Details:

In this role, you will typically work approximately 10 hours per week, primarily during the Day shift from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, including on-call shifts. Your schedule will vary weekly, generally covering Monday to Friday with one weekend shift every six weeks.
