Job Summary

The University of Chicago Medicine is seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer to join our team in the Pediatric Heart Station. As a key member of our non-invasive cardiac imaging laboratory, you will be responsible for performing pediatric transthoracic echocardiography studies and other aspects of echocardiographic imaging under the supervision of a Cardiac Sonographer II or III and the Medical Director.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for Transthoracic echo and Stress Echo procedures, reviewing indications and communicating with patients, customers, and staff in a respectful and compassionate manner.
  • Utilize Xcelera data archiving system and Electronic Medical Records system to record, charge, and report procedures.
  • Participate in process improvement activities and contribute to research and publications to stay at the forefront of the field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of clinical hours at an accredited lab.
  • Good communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Obtaining registry status with either Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification.

Working Conditions

  • Job Type/FTE: Full-Time, 1.0FTE.
  • Shift: Day, 10 hours.
  • Unit/Department: Pediatric Heart Station.
  • CBA Code: Non-Union.
