Join us at the forefront of pediatric cardiac care at The University of Chicago Medicine as a Pediatric Cardiac Imaging Specialist.
Sign-On Bonus Available: Up to $5,000
In this position, the Pediatric Cardiac Imaging Specialist will conduct transthoracic echocardiography examinations for pediatric patients, performing all facets of echocardiographic imaging under the direct oversight of a Cardiac Sonographer II or III, and under the general guidance of the Medical Director of the Noninvasive Cardiac Imaging Laboratory. Our echocardiography professionals at Comer Children's Hospital are skilled in various echo procedures, including transthoracic echocardiography, fetal echocardiography, and Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE). The pediatric lab at Comer Children's is accredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) for Pediatric, Fetal, and Transesophageal Echocardiograms.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for transthoracic echo and stress echo procedures, review indications, and compare previous studies to accurately address inquiries from referring physicians, while maintaining respectful and compassionate communication with patients, customers, and staff.
- Utilize the Xcelera data archiving system and Electronic Medical Records to document, charge, and report on procedures.
- Actively engage in process improvement initiatives.
- Participate in research and publication efforts to remain at the forefront of the field.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of clinical hours at an accredited laboratory.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Pursuing registry status with either Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification.
Position Details

In this role, you will typically work approximately 10 hours per week, primarily during the day shift from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, with on-call responsibilities. Your schedule will generally include weekdays and one weekend shift every six weeks.
