Mechanical Engineer - Packaging Design

The Mechanical Engineer should have solid SAP skills in manufacturing and play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficiency and quality of both the manufacturing process and the final product. Your expertise in product data management, package design, and SAP systems is essential for the smooth operation of the manufacturing chain.

LOCATION: Stone Mountain, GA
POSITION: Contract / Right to Hire
SHIFT: Monday through Thursday on site, remote Friday unless traveling
PAY: $40.00hr
TRAVEL: Potentially to Tifton, GA (less than 25%)

  • You will support the whole supply chain process including the packaging design. For this company, the aftermarket parts, motors, coils, compressors etc. are requested by the customer. The factory packages the parts so the whole supply chain process includes what is being sent to the packaging design. You will get a list of all components and look at how the business process works, setting up parts in SAP, design shipping changes, size of packaging required, materials, any special labeling, designing all of these pieces.
The process Engineers plays a critical role in overseeing and improving manufacturing processes. Key responsibilities include:
  1. Product Data Management (PDM) or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Skills: These skills are essential for managing the entire lifecycle of a product from inception, through engineering design and manufacturing, to service and disposal. The Process Engineer uses these skills to optimize processes and product quality.
  2. Engineering Chain Notices and Engineer Change Requests: Handling engineering chain notices and managing engineer change requests are crucial parts of the job. This involves coordinating with different departments to ensure that any changes in the manufacturing process or product design are efficiently implemented and documented.
  3. Package Design Experience: The Process Engineer should have experience in designing packaging for products. This includes determining the size, materials, and any special labeling requirements. They need to ensure that the packaging is functional, cost-effective, and meets industry standards.
  4. Setting Up Parts in SAP: Proficiency in SAP is critical for setting up new parts in the system. This includes entering and managing data related to parts, such as their specifications, manufacturing processes, and cost information.
  5. Designing Shipping Changes: The Process Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing changes in the shipping process. This could involve optimizing the size and type of packaging to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  6. Materials Management: They need to have a strong understanding of the materials used in the manufacturing process and packaging. This involves selecting the right materials based on cost, quality, and suitability for the product and process.
  7. Special Labeling and Designing: The role also involve designing special labeling for products, considering factors like regulatory requirements, branding, and customer needs.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Education Requirement - Engineering Degree preferred but will consider experience
  • 3+ years' experience in Engineering
  • 3+ years' experience in Manufacturing
  • Fundamental Engineering Principles knowledge
  • SAP
