Job Summary:
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for supporting manufacturing operations through the design, maintenance, and optimization of metal extrusion, rolling, and lamination processes. This role requires a hands-on approach to solving complex technical challenges, enhancing production efficiency, and ensuring product quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and optimize metal extrusion, rolling, and lamination processes to improve product quality and operational efficiency.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues in production equipment and systems, ensuring minimal downtime and reliable performance.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (maintenance, production, quality) to implement process improvements and ensure smooth manufacturing operations.
- Conduct regular equipment and process evaluations to identify potential improvements, safety concerns, and upgrade opportunities.
- Assist in the installation, commissioning, and validation of new equipment and technologies.
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation, including mechanical designs, process flow diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
- Apply continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles to increase productivity and reduce waste.
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations and company policies.
- Support the development of preventive maintenance programs for critical equipment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in metal manufacturing, specifically in extrusion, rolling, and/or lamination processes.
- Strong knowledge of metal forming techniques, including extrusion, rolling, lamination, and related equipment.
- Experience with mechanical design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach.
- Understanding of process controls, automation, and plant maintenance principles.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience in chemical or metals manufacturing environments.
- Proven track record in managing plant maintenance operations.
- Understanding of safety regulations and quality standards in metal manufacturing.
