Description

Texans Credit Union has an outstanding opportunity for a Loan Advisor who can provide product solutions and close sales while maintaining a high level of member service and urgency.

Position Purpose and Objectives

The Loan Advisor (LA) position in the centralized sales team serves as a phone liaison and sales expert with our members by being the main point of contact throughout their entire loan process. LA's can quickly build rapport with members to discover their current and unmet needs . They use this knowledge to offer product solutions and close sales while maintaining a high level of member service and urgency. LA's consistently multi-task, communicate effectively through written and verbal communication and exceed their goals and objectives.

This position is eligible for a hybrid scheduled after a training and probationary period.

Major Duties and Essential Functions:

  • Thoroughly interview applicants to build rapport/relationships to understand their full financial picture and submit well documented applications.
  • Analyzes and utilizes credit reports to cross-sell additional lending and credit union products, and educates member on best practices to improve credit score.
  • Utilizes open-ended questions, active listening and comprehension skills, benefit statements to overcome objections and close the sale.
  • Effectively presents and sells ancillary products (such as GAP, extended warranty, and payment protection products) while meeting set penetration objectives.
  • Foster strong working relationships with underwriting and processing staff, while also supporting Loan Advisor teammates in a collaborative environment.
  • Maintain loan pipeline to service level agreements by executing consistent follow up, proactive communication ensuring a high approval to funding ratio.
  • Explain loan process, obtain necessary documentation, complete applications and route to the underwriting/processing team.
  • Maintains knowledge of credit reporting, loan processing procedures and underwriting guidelines.
  • Ensure loan files are complete and accurate with appropriate and thorough comments, along with recommendations to aid in loan decision.
  • Provide timely closing of loans by responding quickly to loan decisions, underwriting and processing requests.
  • Proactively participate in outbound calling campaigns, contests, and other sales initiatives to generate business.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of and comply with all department and security policies, procedures and federal regulations; including BSA requirements.
  • Provide excellent customer service by responding to members' requests, resolving issues, and/or directing them to the appropriate department to ensure member satisfaction.
  • Provide back-up as needed to general phone queue to assist members.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Specific knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position:
  • Driven and competitive to exceed established sales and lending goals
  • Ability to promote a sales/service environment
  • Possess a high-level understanding of lending practices/tools, credit reports and ancillary loan products
  • Working knowledge of a variety of financial products and services
  • Excellent member service skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and oral communication skills
  • Basic computer and typing skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Professional and polished in both attitude and appearance

Education:

High-school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

Minimum 1-year consumer lending experience.

Minimum 2 years Sales/Service experience in a Retail and/or Financial Institution environment.
