POSITION SUMMARY:

El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank's mission is to lead the fight against the ongoing hunger crisis in our region by partnering to provide nutritious food, education and other vital resources. Our vision is a hunger free El Paso region. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our leadership team and lead our financial management efforts. The CFO will play a crucial role in the growth and success of the organization and ensure the financial health and sustainability of our food bank, as we work towards our mission of combating hunger in our region.

MAJOR DUTIES AND SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Financial Planning & Strategy: Develop financial strategies, practices and initiatives that align with the organization's goals and supports the organization's growth strategy;
  • Operations, Budgeting & Forecasting: Manage all financial operations including financial planning, financial analysis, manage all investments, loans provision of appropriate controls and reports, accounting, payroll and lead the budgeting process including developing annual budgets, project budgets and grant budgets and forecasting financial performance Oversee all financial aspects of our government contracts including billing and revenue optimization;
  • Cash Flow Management: Manage cash flow and liquidity to ensure the organization's financial stability is strong and ability to meet its obligations.
  • Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including the board of directors, funders, and regulatory agencies.
  • Grant Management: Oversee financial aspects of grant applications, reporting, and compliance.
  • Financial Controls: Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets and ensure financial integrity.
  • Risk Management & Compliance: Identify and assess financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate them. Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, accounting standards, and nonprofit reporting requirements. Responsible for ensuring that financial policies and practices are in compliance with the standards set by the IRS, Feeding America, and government contracting agencies;
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other senior leaders to align financial management with organizational strategy, goals and priorities. Serves as the finance subject matter expert on the finance committee of the board.
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership and guidance to the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement. Administrative functions including hiring, performance management, coaching and progressive discipline. Interface with volunteers, community groups, food donors & potential collaborative partners to further the EPFH mission;
  • Audit: Provide timely & accurate financial information for annual audit; working closely with the external auditor and internal stakeholders;
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned
Position Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in business administration or accounting with 7+ years of relevant experience, preferably with a nonprofit agency or public accounting firm or equivalent combination of experience. CPA license and advanced degree is preferred. A strong financial and accounting background, with specific knowledge of financial reporting, planning and internal control systems, cash management, general accounting practices is required. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and communicate financial information to diverse stakeholders. Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze complex financial data and make sound recommendations. Commitment to the mission and values of the organization.

  • Presentation skills and ability to present complex information to employees, the Board of Directors, funders and other stakeholders in both written and verbal formats;
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities & projects and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with a high degree of accuracy;
  • Commitment to excellent customer service;
  • Ability to be innovative, meet or exceed goals and manage workflow;
  • Ability to pass a background check and random drug testing
