Job Summary The Structural Engineer performs the task of managing the documentation of the structural drawings in coordination with architectural and MEP Works. As well as designing new builds, they have to ensure older structures remain safe, and often design renovation schemes to ensure long life for existing structures. Job Responsibilities Responsible to plan and conduct independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Assist/devise new approaches to problems, and prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts, and graphs, and monitor work for compliance with applicable codes and accepted engineering practices. Analyze and configure the basic structural components of a building or other structure to ensure the quality of design. Review the design criteria (basic structural components, geotechnical properties, wind loads, seismic loads, loads, fire protection) and ensure the adequacy of design. Analyze the structural elements to ensure the quality of the design. Analyze and review the loading plan and ensure compliance with codes and the project operational purpose. Determine the pressures that each component, such as a beam or lintel, will experience from other parts of the structure due to human use or environmental pressures such as weather or earthquakes. Study the impact of the temporary works (formwork, tower cranes foundations, and supports) on the structural elements, provide calculations, details, and ensure compliance. Liaise with designers, including architects, to agree on safe designs and their fit with the aesthetic concept of the construction of the proposed project. Provide safe structural solutions to suit the architectural and MEP requirements. Prepare shop drawings with all necessary details in accordance with the tender drawings. #J-18808-Ljbffr
