Role Description

The Senior Automation Specialist (Engineer) will be responsible for engineering maintenance of process control systems, equipment, and SCADA controls, ensuring regulatory compliance and interface with Instrument and Electrical Technicians. Investigate and deliver innovative engineering solutions for process safety and facility integrity. Collaborate with departments on system issues, track inventory, and manage high-maintenance SCADA items. Develop procedures for safe operation, maintaining accurate control drawings and P&ID compliance.

Principle Accountabilities: Responsible for engineering maintenance of process control systems, associated equipment, and functional support of instrumentation and SCADA control systems Ensure that engineering operations are completed according to regulatory requirements, company controls, and guidelines; maintain and interface with day-to-day activities of the Instrument and Electrical Technicians’ (I&E) engineering work regarding changes to the facility SCADA control systems; Investigate engineering processes and deliver engineering innovation that provides a more reliable process safety system to maintain facility integrity; Collaborate with other departments regarding the engineering system issues and ensure the engineering work order system is in place, tracking inventory and high maintenance items of the SCADA control system; Assisting the maintenance and mechanical function in setting short-term priorities for facilities maintenance needs to meet agreed targets and ensuring that maintenance of the facility's operating equipment delivers maximum production in a cost-effective, environmentally responsible, and safe manner; Develop engineering procedures to ensure processes are in place and are effective for the safe operation and isolation of the facility; ensure control process and safety systems correspond with P&ID’s and SAFE engineering charts; and ensure engineering systems and control drawings are kept up to date and accurate. Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a closely related field plus 4 years of experience in the job offered or 4 years of experience in a related occupation utilizing process control systems such as Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and programmable logic controllers (PLC). Utilization of SCADA in controlling, monitoring, and analyzing industrial devices. Development of engineering processes and procedures; providing on-site and remote automation support for upstream and downstream offshore oil and gas producing operations; maintaining and editing local HMI operator interfaces; troubleshooting control networks for well sites, well pads, tank battery, and compressor stations; and maintaining PLC programs in function block, ladder logic, and structured text.
