Job Description

Seeking a dedicated Protection and Control Engineer responsible for performing high-level and complex electrical engineering work activities and projects. The role demands the application of electrical engineering theories to solve well-defined problems and provide in-depth analysis. The successful candidate will develop relay settings for zones of protection within substations, perform peer reviews, and provide mentorship to less-experienced engineers. Responsibilities include reviewing relay protection and control activities for electrical substation projects, preparing and reviewing P&C engineering designs, participating in project scheduling, and providing engineering support for project installations. The role also involves modeling transmission system impedances, performing short circuit fault studies, and contributing to the development of system-wide protection standards.
Hard Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electrical Computer, or Electrical Engineering Technology
  • 1-5 years of Electrical Engineering experience, preferably in Protection & Control or Facilities/Industrial

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 9 Month(s).
Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Moraine, Ohio.
Work Environment

The role is primarily office-based (97%) in the DP&L office, interacting with relay engineers, the testing group, and telecom groups to troubleshoot problems. There is a minimal field component (3%) involving site visits to work on actual relays. The position operates on a Monday to Friday schedule, 8 AM to 5 PM with a 1-hour lunch break, and requires the candidate to be onsite five days a week.
