We are looking for a Billing Compliance Specialist to join our team Duties: Performs audits for medical documentation, coding and billing to ensure compliance with Federal, State and other payer requirements. Contributes expertise to the development of compliance training to physicians and staff. Maintains and supports a culture of compliance, ethics, and integrity. Maintains knowledge of regulatory requirements and external laws as they relate to coding and medical billing. Performs analysis of medical records for accuracy of ICD-9 and CPT coding to ensure standards and regulatory compliance for servicesbilled. Performs focused audits on identified risk areas. Develops reports to communicate audit findings and feedback to physicians and ancillary staff. Performs research via electronic and other media to assure understanding of documentation and coding is current and relevant. Job Requirements Job Requirements - - - Required Education: Associate's Degree in Health Information Management (HIM) 48 months experience in coding and billing in a medical setting that includes at least 36 months experience in compliance auditing for coding and billing Equivalent/Substitution: Will accept 24 months experience in abstract coding of professional services in lieu of the Associate's Degree for a total of 72 months experience Skills : Knowledge of documentation and coding of diagnosis and procedures using ICD-9 and CPT methodology Knowledge of Federal and State regulatory requirements for billing professional services in an academic setting Knowledge of computer spreadsheets, graphs and word documentation Skilled in web-based research for federal, state and other regulatory body requirements Excellent skills in communication and presentations Certifications: Coding certification by American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) Coding certifications are at least one of the following: Registered Health Information Administrators (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Coding Specialist Physician based (CCS-P), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), OR Certified Professional Coder (CPC).
